InsurTech Insider Episode 8: The Sharing Economy and changing insurance models
In this week's episode we focus on the Sharing and Gig Economies and changing insurance models as a result. We also chat to co-founders Mike Rudoy & Luke Cohler from New York based start-up, Jetty.
Sarah Kocianski is back in the hosting seat this week, joined by Nigel Walsh and special guests Richard Laughton - CEO of EasyCar and Chair of the Sharing Economy Forum; Rob Moffat - Board Director at Dinghy and Janthana Kaenprakhamroy - CEO & Founder of Tapoly to discuss the Sharing and Gig Economies and how they impact the insurance models of those both working in those industries and those using the services they provide.
We kick things off by defining what we mean by the Sharing Economy, what it looks like and how this changes traditional insurance models. The team also discuss what insurance models currently exist to cater to the gig economy, and how insurance is having to keep up and keep pace with the changing economy models.
David Brear interviewed co-founders Mike Rudoy & Luke Cohler from New York based start-up, Jetty, an insurtech company based in the rental and accommodation markets, discussing their focus on bespoke policies catering to the individual, which chimes in with the themes discussed in the roundtable.
Sarah and Nigel close the show by talking through a couple of the bigger industry new stories.
