According to the Financial Times, 2021 saw VCs invest $15.3 billion into Latin American firms—triple the funding raised in 2020. A staggering 75% of that investment went into fintech, proptech, and e-commerce.

Nubank, LATAM’s largest fintech, raised $1.15 billion in the region's biggest ever deal – then floated on the NYSE at a valuation of $40 billion.

How did LATAM fintech get to this point? Is everything really as utopian as it seems? And what comes next for the newest global fintech player?
