60. The New York insurtech scene

47min listen

David Brear is in the Big Apple and joined by a panel of guests to talk through the New York insurtech scene. All this and much much more on today's Insurtech Insider!

This week, David Brear is in New York to talk about all things insurtech. Joining David in our very first New York edition of Insurtech Insider are:

  • Jay Weintraub - Co-founder and CEO at InsureTech Connect
  • Quentin Coolen - Co-founder and CEO at Waffle Labs, Inc

Whilst London is considered the global fintech hub and Silicon Valley the US centre of technology, it is New York that is leading the charge in insurance technology. To kick off the show, we start by asking the basics. What is the New York insurtech scene, how did this city become the international insurtech hub, and why is it the perfect place for insurtech opportunity?
The insurtech scene has boomed in recent years and is catching up to established insurance incumbents. However, New York is also a notoriously tough regulatory environment. So, are insurance incumbents at risk of being left in the dust or will New York's regulatory landscape put a spanner in the works for innovative insurtechs?

All that and much more on this week's episode of Insurtech Insider!
