41. Shutting down Gatwick
Sarah and Nigel are joined by some fantastic guests today to talk about drone insurance, a topic that we have been very excited about for a long time (it has just taken us a while to get this episode together) so here we are!
Sarah and Nigel are joined by Antton Pena, founder of Flock and Sophie Winwood who is the Associate Investor at Anthemis!
Kicking off the show, Antton tells us about Flock and what they do. Flock offers flexible drone insurance and they have three models, one of which is "pay as you fly"! Flock is powered by risk intelligence technology and it uses a model that allows you to pay for what you need and the risk you are undertaking. Anthemis as a company is very interested in how drones can aid the insurance industry and they invest in Flock.
Can drones replace physical insurance inspections? Can they perhaps assist the agriculture industry and help farmers know when the crops are ready? On the other side of this, how do you insure your drone? Can you just add it to your home insurance? What about liability, if you accidentally land on a person are you covered by insurance? In cases like Gatwick airport, can an airport be covered for potential drone attacks? How do you actually calculate risk?
